The Hotel Metropole Hanoi nestles in the Old Quarter, also known as the “36 streets and guilds,” and is a short walking distance from many historical landmarks of the culturally rich Hanoi, such as the Hanoi Opera House.

The hotel is divided into two wings. The historic Metropole Wing was inspired by classic French architecture with a hint of local Vietnamese style. The more contemporary Opera wing has been renovated to create a harmonious blend between the historic and modern elements of the hotel, and great care was taken to respect the rich heritage of the site while installing state-of-the-art technology. Proudly goes by the name Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, the hotel indeed used to welcome legendary guests with suits named after them: Graham Greene, Charlie Chaplin, Somerset Maugham.

Hotel Metropole’s profound heritage also lies in features of significant historical value such as the famous air raid shelter during Hanoi’s wartime. The 40-square-meter bomb shelter has been preserved in its original state as a tribute to the hotel’s wartime employees, who ushered guests into the safety underground chamber from mid-1960s through the Christmas Bombings in 1972. Discovered again in 2012, the “Bunker” is now open to Hotel Metropole visitors as the ‘Path of History’ hotel tour.

The Metropole restaurants and bars are famous wine & dine venues among the elites in town. Each venue offers a distinct exquisite experience. Among those, Spices Garden focuses on Vietnamese cuisines, presented in cozy local settings with Indochinese theme furniture and a patio. Serving specialties across Vietnam from north to south, the restaurant seeks to bring out the best of local culinary culture.

This is where customers can enjoy Lang Toi – My Village combo, a uniquely curated gastronomic experience, one that combines the best of both worlds: Lang Toi – My Village’s spellbinding bamboo cirque performance on stage of the National Relic Hanoi Opera House, and Sofitel Legend Metropole’s legendary cuisines on bamboo tray.

Served within historic settings of the hotel itself and the grand opera house, this combo sets out to transcend audience’s senses, taking them on a trip back to Vietnam’s beautiful old days. Everything simply harmonizes into a seamless blend, from village cuisines on one’s tongue to breathtaking sights and sounds of village life one takes in. The rich exotic taste of history and culture in this gastronomic journey promises to linger on beyond one’s stay in Hanoi.
